When it was announced that the twice Oscar-nominated Helena Bonham Carter would play the role of the witch-esque Havisham in Mike Newell's forthcoming film, we expected her to bring a dark vibrancy to the role, a creepy jazziness that would set her apart from previous performers.

Looking at the pictures released toda🐻y of her in full costume, it appears we may have been right.

Based on the above, it's evident that the production team have gone all-out with costume design.

Ralph Fiennes, Sally Hawkins, Robbie Coltrane and Jason Flemyng are all set to star in the film, which has assembled a stellar British cast.

An autumn 2012 release date is currently scheduled, to tie-in with Dickens' bice൩ntenary.
