Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, in addition to having a name that sounds like an incredible prog roc🐎k album, is one of the first RPGs ever made, released for PCs in 1981. You'd gather a group of adventurers and battle gorgeously rendered pixel art baddies. Wizardry Variants Daphne places itself in the lineage of the original.

Once every 100 years, a curse of death flows from an abyss into the world. Normally, a king would 🍰be protecting the common folk, but King Iver has vanished, and it's up to you to form a team of adventurers, save the king, and help seal the Abyss.

Like most games in this series, you're exploring a dungeon from a first-person perspective, immersing yourself in the oppressive world. As you journey, you'll be able to gather remains of fallen adventurers, either bꦿy purchasing them at a jeweler or finding them in the dungeon. With your power, the Right Hand of Reversal, you can use the remains to unlock fellow adventurers. There's no character creation system. Instead, you unlock a diverse and captivating cast with whom you can form a party of five, building teamwork that fosters bonds over multiple dungeon dives.

You've got six classes and four races. You know what works best for your playstyle, so you can find and focus on characters that suit it. You might be compelled by a dextrous charact𓆉er and gravitate toward a beastfolk thief. Healing is vital, so a dwarven priest could be your next pick. How you decide to construct your party is entirely up to you and the luck of the draw from spending your remains.
