HD Chrono Trigger/Wind Waker mash-up is a pant-wetting vision of how good Wii U Virtual Console could look

of Chrono Trigger's Kingdom of Zeal remake in the art style of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, although simple, makes a very strong case for a few different things. First up, it makes a case for the idea that Nintendo really must sort its sh*t out with the Wii U Virtual console, and really has to put out GameCube꧙ games for full download in HD with 16:9 widescreen support across the board. Can you imagine the entirety of Wind Waker looking thisไ sharp? Or Metroid Prime? Or Rogue Squadron? Or F-Zero? Excuse me for a moment, I must go into a cool, darkened room and make gurgling noises to myself for a bit.

Right, ꧑I'm back. Sorry about that. I'm sure you understand. But yes, Nintendo's back catalogue and the current🐓 trend for HD remakes means that there's a killing to be made for Ninty on the Wii U if it gets it right.

Also, forget your PS3 rem🌃ake of Final Fantasy VII. Lets have Chrono Trigger. Right now.

And my third point? We nearly had a full-3D once. Some fans were making it. But then Squenix shut them down, as biꦚg publishers have shut down so many fan remakes before. The moral of this story? If you're working on a brilliant fan prꦉoject, do not shout about it all over the internet long before it's finished. Or in fact tell anyone any time before it's finished. It's just better that way.

Long-time GR+ writer Dave has been gaming with immense dedication ever since he failed dismally at some '80s arcade racer on a childhood day at the seaside (due to being too small to reach the controls without help). These days he's an enigmatic blend of beard-stroking narrative discussion and hard-hitting Psycho Crushers.
