You’d think Greta Gerwig’s bones w𓆉ere hurting, so achingly hip is this irritating New York indie. She’s Lola, a 29-year-old academic who moves in a world of artists, actors andꦰ architects who are all as self-absorbed as she is.

When she’s not eati꧋ng macrobiotic food, practising yoga, or going for trance therapy, she&r🧸squo;s managing a messed-up love life, bouncing between her ex-fiancé, best friend and random strangers.

Directed/co-written by Daryl Wein, the dialogue zips (“find your spirit animal and ride it ’till its dick falls off”), and𒅌 Gerwig charms, but the laughs fall flat under the incessant naval-gazing.
