Trenchcoat-wearing, Sartre-reading schoolyard misanthrope George (Freddie Highmore) has a problem: despite the best efforts of his lovely teachers he can’t be bothered to graduate; and despite the best efforts of his lovely friend (Emma Roberts) he can’t be bothered to fornicate.

Though woozily shot and well acted, embracing Gavin Wiesen’s low-key coming-of-ager depends on whether you find its hero a self-important prick.

൩George may be honest enough to admit, “I’m obnoxious,” but you can’t help thinking the art of getting over himself would be 💦the best lesson to master.
