The Tempest gets a trailer

The Tempest trailer

The first trailer for Julie Taymor's adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest has gone online, and it's a bit of a... storm, to say the least.

A visual onslaught, the trailer🐬 makes a series of insecure statements, as if the marketing department weren't sure how to sel𒅌l ol' Shakey to the kids.

Well it turns out there'👍s a ne🐬w idiom in trailer cutting; when in doubt, add more Russell Brand...

Check out the trailer below;

Well, there you go. We can't fault the all-star cast, which includes Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, Chris Cooper, David Strathairn, Alan Cummin♑g and Ben Whishaw, as well as Helen Mirren♋ as gender-reversed lead 'Prospera'.

Even Brand seems ideal for the part of clownish Trinculo... there is just rather a lot ༺o♓f him here.

Taymor's previous screen foray into Shakespeare was the flawed, if occasionally brilliant, Titus , starring Anthony Hopkins.

Titus Andronicus is regarded as one of Shakespeare's lesser works, so we're interested to see𓂃 what she does with what i🎐s arguably one of his finest.

Based on the trailer however, we have our doubts.
